Welcome to Double D Quarter Horses! We're glad you stopped in and we hope that you will come back often!
Check the "For Sale" page often. We have an outstanding selection of Quarter Horses For Sale - Foals, Yearlings, Two year olds & Mares.
New pictures added 11/07 - be sure to refresh all pages to get the most current document.
We breed, raise and sell quality Quarter Horses registered with the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), the International Buckskin Horse Association (IBHA), and the Foundation Quarter Horse Association (FQHA). Our horses have the bloodlines, conformation, attitude, and versatility that you look for in a quarter horse. Whatever your discipline - Halter, Western and/or English Pleasure, Cutting, Reining, Barrels, Poles, or the wonderful world of a relaxing trail ride - our selection of horses can put you in the winner's circle. From winning in the Halter class you can mount up and get into the Western Pleasure class, or a number of other arenas.
You can click any picture and go to the horse's page.
Our broodmares carry the bloodlines of Sonny Dee Bar, Skipper W, Poco Bueno, Hollywood Gold, Jessie James, Grey Badger II, Triple Chick, Par Three, Oklahoma Star, Joe Hancock, Dan Waggoner, Sugar Bars, Te N' Te, Blondy's Dude, Joe Bailey, Wimpy II, Poco Pine, and Joe Reed, just to name a few. All of our broodmares have excellent bone structure, strong black feet, and sound, correct legs and they pass these traits onto their babies. They are all healthy and sound individuals. Adding to this long list of attributes is the PLUS of color! We raise Grullo, Dun, Red Dun and Buckskin, and our mares pass on their strong trait of dun factor to their babies.
The Buckskin (or Dun) is not just a color breed! According to an article by Oklahoma State (www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/horses/buckskin ) their color indicates their superior genetic heritage. "They have more stamina, more determination, harder feet, better bone, and are generally hardier than other horses".
We recommend and enlist the services of the American Association of Natural Hoof Care Practitioners (AANHCP) in "Natural Hoof Care" for our horses. We encourage you to check out their website and get more information on their organization, local practitioners available to you (in Central Illinois contact Mackinaw Dells II), and the "Total Horse Trim" concept. Their practitioners care about you and your "total" horse - you will see a noticeable difference after the first appointment!
