SST Quincy Dan "Dan" Grullo gelding AQHA #4669149 April 11, 2005
This young man is a Grullo breeder's dream - Lots of dun factor, tiger stripes, ear tips and NO WHITE! Currently stands at 15.3 (30 months old) and he indicates all the signs to be a BIG and TALL colt. An excellent western or english pleasure prospect, Dan is extremely sweet natured and easy to handle. Dan has an excellent conformation with stout legs, a very tiny head, ears and a long, thin neck. He is currently receiving the basics of ground work preparing for riding next spring - he accepts the saddle as a natural appendage. He clips, shoes, loads and trailers with ease and has no vises. He has a slight overbite that has been monitored and adjusted regularly by our equine dentist and it poses no problem with his ability to eat, graze, or accept a bit for riding. He has no other flaws and is a super smart individual with a calm acceptance to new experiences.
I took him to Missouri for two weeks in June 2007 soon after just being green broke and he did wonderful for me. He is very enjoyable (a pleasure) to ride - has an excellent walk and I can put him out front and he'll walk out without issue or I can put him in the back or middle and he will adjust his pace to keep up but not run over the others on the trail. I took him back to Missouri again in October 2007 and rode him every day (choosing him over my 15 yr old gelding). I got many compliments from others about how calm, well behaved and sensible he was - on the trail and on the ground. I choose to ride him every chance I get to ride...he's tall for me but he always stands quiet while I scramble to get in the saddle and waits until I'm ready to move off.
Danny has speed, no only in is pedigree but he also shows it in the pasture. I've only done the basics with him under saddle - walk, trot, & canter/lope and haven't asked for anything more. He has excellent bone (legs) - they're not fine and fragile like so many of the large horses sold today. He could easily prove to be an awesome barrel racer or pole runner.
